We also work jointly on projects in the context of citizen science or a shared hobby. Many are in collaboration with other organisations. When you have an idea we can help you communicate it as to involve other Sensemakers! Managing volunteer based citizen science projects is not easy, so please make sure you have enough time, also check if there are already existing initiatives in the same domain. It is easier to strengthen and work with those instead of building from zero yourself!
Our motives for participating in those projects are:
- Learning to DIY apply technology within socially relevant domains (from sensor to relevant data in a dashboard);
- Develop skills related to logical reasoning; how do you get from a problem through experiments to an approach/solution;
- Contributing to knowledge about and the development of affordable tools;
- Shared best practices, instructables and teaching material
At this moment the only ongoing collaboration with partners is on:
- Sound pollution (both in the city of Amsterdam as in wildlife areas as to detect poachers)
Past collaborations:
- Astroplant (growing plants in space, but also at home
- Drinkable Rivers (water quality)
- Marineterrein Living Lab
- MijnOmgeving (water quality)
- Marineterrein Living Lab area (Waterbuoy project & investigations on the influence of heavy rain on sewer overflow (and with that on bacteria in the swimming water).
